Environment - Create your own Exam Question Challenge

Do you think students should write their own textbook? Or their own exam? Why? Why not?
Ok, well that is another discussion we need to have......but for now here is your new CHALLENGE!

  • Have questions peer reviewed by Monday Oct 31
  • Send Qs to Mrs Lindsay for review.
  • Feedback Tuesday Nov 1
  • Final Qs and mark scheme to Mrs Lindsay by Friday Nov 4
  • Students to sit tests next week

PREPARATION

1. Review the updated ITGS command terms as discussed in class.
2. Review the example questions extracted from past exam papers:

3. Update and complete your wiki research page on Environment topics. Each of you have been adding information and news items, and each team/person presented this in class last week. Make sure it IS COMPLETE ENOUGH to continue with this task. You can always add more articles and information later as well.
4. Review the ITGS syllabus for exams in 2012, making sure you are aware of all topics in Strands 1 and 3 and how they can connect with our main topic here, Environment.

TASK

This is an individual assignment based on the work you prepared as a team on the Environment scenarios.
  1. From your work find a particular area of interest that can be generated into a typical exam question.
  2. The question will likely have 4 parts and must total 20 marks. It must provide initial information (and possibly a picture that is referenced), use command terms correctly and connect the knowledge about the Environment topic to Strand 1 (social and ethical issues) and Strand 3 (IT Systems)
  3. Process for creating exam question:
  • Work through preparation above
  • Write a draft question
  • Give to another student to review and feedback
  • Give to a teacher to review and feedback
  • Rewrite based on feedback
  • After teacher approval go ahead and create the mark scheme

ASSESSMENT

Assessment will be based on your:
  • production of an exam question and mark scheme
  • your answers to an exam question created by someone else
  • your ability to mark/grade an exam paper of another student and provide substantial feedback
